2014′s Top Home Run Hitters: AL/NL, HR Streaks (5 Active) + Multi HRs Games

5ebb0-puig

There were a lot of HRs hit for how few games there were on a shortened Monday schedule last evening.  Yasiel Puig hit a mammoth HR to erase a 2 run deficit into a lead.

The 2nd Year Dodger is on fire right now, and has hit back to back HRs in the last few games.

After a slower start, the 23 Year Old is now resembling the player he was last year, featuring a .318/.408/.551 3 Slash Line for the campaign – with 7 HRs and 29 RBI.

These totals put him on pace for about 33 HRs and 120 RBI for the year if he keeps it up.  He will quickly be reengaged into the NL MVP Voting if his is the case.

Christian Yelich went yard for the 2nd straight contest last night as well.  While he is not putting forth the same kind of numbers as teammate Giancarlo Stanton, he is now hitting .278/.350/.442 on the year, and he is only 22 Years Old.

Jose Abreu hit his MLB leading 14th HR yesterday – and Jose Bautista clubbed a 1st inning 3 run shot to stake the Jays to a lead they would not relinquish.

Mark Teixeira had hit HRs in 2 straight, but he could only serve as a PH in last night’s Subway Series game versus the Mets. He laced a base hit, but had to stay at 1st base because of his legs.

He lost his consecutive game streak, and the next batter grounded into a game ending Double Play Ball.

Charlie Blackmon was not in action last night, and will see his streak of 2 games with a dinger carry over to today.

It is my belief that the Angels should just leave Cron at the DH position permanently, to replace Ibanez, and he could also give Pujols and Hamilton days off as well in going forward in the 2014 season. The 23 Year Old RHB, has HRs in back to back games - and is featuring an OPS of 1.128 in his 1st 29 AB in the Majors. Among his hits, include 6 Singles, 3 Doubles and 2 Home Runs in his 1st 8 Games Played.

C.J. Cron was inserted into the lineup yet again for the Angels, and stroked another baseball over the fence for a HR, just like he did in the last game he played in on Saturday.

Finally. *Ian Kinsler hit a big fly for the 2nd game, as the Tigers won the 1st game of a Division Leaders showdown versus the Orioles.

Ian Kinsler is providing to the Tigers exactly what they need out of the Leadoff spot in Detroit - scoring 25 Runs and Stealing 5 Bases in his 1st 34 Games Played. It also helps when your #1 Hitter has 4 HRs and 19 RBI this young into the campaign, with a .315/.351/.461 Slash Line. Oh yeah.. he has played great defense thus far too for the 22 - 12 Detroit team.

Oh yeah.. he has played great defense thus far too for the 22 – 12 Detroit team.  Yesterday, the Tigers 2B hit a HR for the second straight game.  It was a 2 run jolt that cushioned Detroit’s lead from 2 – 1, to 4 – 1 over Baltimore.
